Feast Your Eyes: A Guide to Nourishing Your Body and Soul in the Wedding Industry

by | May 31, 2023

Feeling overwhelmed and burnt-out is quite normal for people in the wedding industry.

But just because it’s common and normal doesn’t make it okay.

Long working hours, tight deadlines, and unexpected changes does make it challenging to stay healthy, physically, emotionally and mentally.

However, amidst all the chaos, there lies an escape–FOOD.

Yes, you heard that right. Food is not just about satisfying your hunger pangs; it is about nourishing your body, mind, and soul.

I am here to tell you that it’s okay to eat and that enjoying your meals and snacks is not a luxury, but a necessity.

So, grab your fork and dig in because this is going to be one heck of a delicious journey!

Why Food is Emotional

Food is more than just what we eat; it’s an expression of our emotions. It’s an amalgamation of our culture, ethnicity, and upbringing. As a wedding professional, you are already familiar with the emotional aspect of food—a wedding without food is almost an incomplete one.

But what about the emotional impact that food has on you?

Food has the power to make us feel loved, comforted, and happy. Remember those childhood memories of your mother cooking your favorite meal on your birthday? Or that Italian Sunday dinner.

Each bite had you feeling warm and fuzzy, didn’t it?

Eating a delicious meal can uplift your mood, relieve stress, and boost your creativity.

So, the next time you’re feeling low, instead of reaching for comfort food, try cooking up a hearty meal that nourishes your body and soul.

Eating is Not a Guilty Pleasure

As someone in the wedding industry, you may often find yourself too busy to take breaks or enjoy a meal without worrying about the never-ending to-do list.

But hey, listen up, eating is not a guilty pleasure.

Food is meant to be relished, savored, and most importantly, enjoyed.

Whether it’s a simple sundae or a gastronomic experience, eating makes you feel alive, and that’s crucial for your overall well being.

So, instead of seeing eating as a “temptation,” see it as a positive outlet for your stress and anxiety. Go ahead and indulge in your favorite treat guilt-free; you deserve it!

Simplify Your Meals and Snacks

We hear you; cooking and meal prep can be daunting, especially when you’re always on-the-go. But, you don’t have to be a gourmet chef to appreciate great food. With a few simple hacks, you can enjoy delicious meals and snacks that are not only healthy but easy to prepare.

Here are some ideas to simplify your meals and snacks:

Meal prep: Dedicate a day to plan and prepare your meals for the entire week. This will save you time and effort during the week, and you can have a stress-free mealtime.

Pack some snacks: Save yourself from unhealthy snacking habits by carrying small packs of nutrient dense healthy snacks wherever you go. Nuts, fruits, and granola bars are some examples of quick and healthy snacks.

Keep it simple: Don’t overcomplicate things. Choose simple recipes with fewer ingredients that are easy to prepare but still taste delicious.

Satisfy Your Cravings with Healthy Alternatives

Giving in to your cravings doesn’t mean you have to compromise on your health. You can still indulge in your favorite foods while making healthier choices. Wondering how? I’ve got you covered!

Here are some healthy alternatives to satisfy your cravings:

Ice Cream: Opt for low-fat or non-dairy ice cream, or try making your own with frozen bananas and other fruits. OR. like just grab some real full fat ice cream on the way home from a long day at work.  It’s just ice cream.

Chips: While working I suggest replacing fried chips with baked chips, kale chips, or air-popped popcorn, it’ll help energize you and help carry you through your day.

Bread: Choose whole-grain bread instead of white bread.

Chocolates: Satisfy your sweet tooth with dark chocolate that has less sugar and more antioxidants.

Find Your Work-Life Balance

You lead a hectic life, and it’s easy to get lost in the chaos. Finding your work-life balance can seem like an impossible task, but it’s crucial for your overall wellbeing.

Here are some tips to help you find your balance:

Unplug: Set boundaries for yourself and disconnect from your work after your work hours. This will help you recharge and refocus.

Exercise: Engage in some physical activity that you enjoy, whether it’s running, walking, karate, or yoga. Movement. And yes, extra movement, even though you’ve been on your feet all day.

Take breaks: Take small breaks during the day to refuel yourself. It could be as simple as taking a walk or sitting in a quiet spot for a few minutes.

Prioritize: Prioritize your tasks, and don’t let your work consume your personal life.

Now that you’ve got all these tips, it’s time to put them into practice.

Remember, food is not just about what we eat, but it’s about how we feel.

So, go ahead and enjoy your meals and snacks, take care of yourself, and find your work-life balance.

After all, a happy and healthy you will make a happy and successful wedding professional.
