Wedding Bliss or Wedding Burnout: How to Find the Perfect Balance

by | May 17, 2023

Ah, wedding season – the time of year when love is in the air, and the stress is in our heads, hearts, and houses.

Balancing work and personal obligations is essential during the wedding season.

As wedding professionals, it’s our job to make sure every detail is perfect for the big day – from the flowers to the dress to the napkin color. But what about our own well-being? How do we make sure we’re taking care of ourselves amidst the chaos?

Well, it all starts with balance, my friend. That’s right – that difficult concept that we all strive for but never seem to quite achieve.

Balancing work and personal obligations is essential during wedding season. We know that it can be tempting to work around the clock to ensure everything is perfect for our clients, but trust me – burnout is not a good look on anyone.

Carving out time for self-care and social connection is equally important.

That’s why setting boundaries and creating realistic work schedules are crucial. And if someone tries to make you work on a Monday, just say “I do not.” (Sorry, couldn’t resist the pun.)

But it’s not just about work – it’s also about carving out time for self-care and social connection. Building strong social connections is a necessary part of maintaining good mental health, especially during busy seasons like this one. And who better to connect with than other wedding professionals?

Nourishing our minds and bodies while staying connected to loved ones and colleagues.

Let’s dive deeper into the concept of achieving balance and connection during wedding season. While it can be stressful and overwhelming, it’s important to remember that this time of year also brings so much joy and excitement.

That being said, how can we nourish our minds and bodies while staying connected to our loved ones and colleagues during this busy season?

Plan ahead for healthy meals and prioritize movement.

  • Stock up on healthy snacks that are easy to grab and go, like trail mix, fruit, and veggie packs.
  • Focus on whole foods like lean proteins, whole grains, and lots of veggies for meals.
  • Share meals with loved ones to stay connected and improve overall well-being.
  • Prioritize movement for physical and mental health.
  • Make time for a quick workout before or after work if you have a gym membership.
  • Try going for a walk or run outside to get fresh air and sunshine.
  • Shake things up and try taking a dance class or joining a recreational sports league for more variety in your exercise routine.

Attend industry events and prioritize rest and relaxation.

Another great way to stay connected during the wedding season is by attending industry events and workshops. Not only will you get to network with other wedding professionals, but you’ll also get the chance to learn new skills and strategies to help you better serve your clients. Plus, it’s always nice to know that you’re not alone in the crazy world of weddings.

And let’s not forget about the importance of rest and relaxation. Sometimes, after a long day of work, all we want to do is collapse on the couch and binge-watch our favorite TV show. And that’s totally okay. But also remember to create space for yourself to rest and reset. Maybe that means meditating for a few minutes before bed or taking a long bubble bath on your day off. Whatever it is, make sure it’s something that truly brings you joy and helps you recharge.

Disconnecting from screens and having fun.

Speaking of recharging, let’s talk about our screens for a minute. Social media can be a great tool for staying connected with colleagues and clients, but it can also be a major source of stress and anxiety. If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed by the constant notifications and updates, try logging off for a few hours or even a whole day. Use that time to connect with people in real life, or just enjoy some quiet time with yourself. Trust us, your Instagram feed will still be there when you get back.

Last but not least, remember to have fun. Wedding season may be busy and stressful, but it’s also a time of celebration and joy. Don’t forget to dance to a song that you love or take a silly photo in the photo booth. And if all else fails, grab one of those fancy appetizers and a glass of champagne and enjoy the party (when no one’s watching!- a topic for another day!)

This wedding season is going to be amazing!

I get it – no one else quite understands the stress (and the joy!) of this industry like we do. So attend networking events and connect with those who share your love of all things weddings.

And let’s talk about our bodies for a sec. It’s easy to forget about our physical health when we’re running around like headless chickens, but it’s so important to listen to our bodies’ cues for healthy movement and nourishing meals. Move your body throughout the day, even if it’s just for a minute or two. And don’t forget about those fruits and veggies, pros. They’re not just pretty garnishes on the reception tables – they’re crucial for keeping us energized and focused.

But hey, I’ll never judge you for sneaking a delicious piece of cake every now and then.

So there you have it – a crash course in achieving balance and connection during wedding season. Remember, we can’t pour from an empty cup, so take care of yourself first, and you’ll be better equipped to take care of others.

And always remember – if all else fails, just wear comfortable shoes.
